Make big money in time for Halloween
Ok people, Halloween is just around the corner and I was thinking of a way I could cash in on this day of the year because I enjoy the festivities so much:
well let's just jump right into things, how to make money around Halloween...? Well I have a fun and exciting way to do it. Here is what you will need
1. a styrofoam cutter - http://www.instructables.com/id/Hot-wire-foam-cutter/
this link has a way to make a cutter that will slice through styrofoam like butter for around $30
2. styrofoam 2" 4'x8'
http://www.menards.com/main/building-materials/insulation/panels/c-5779.htm
$13.50
3. foam heads
http://www.displayimporter.com
$4.00 each
4. skeleton hands
http://www.peanutandmagoos.com
$5.00 for the pair
you will need paints and a hotknife($30) on Amazon. black light material, sewing supplies, wires
now you take your supplies, use your new cutter you created for around $30 to cut 16"x16" squares from your 4'x8' sheet of styrofoam. this will give you 18 gravestones to use your hotknife to cut and design in Halloween spirit. Use your paints to give the gravestones a cool finish.
Now you take your styrofoam heads you got for $4.00 and carve them into skulls with your hotkife, again use paint for effect
take a long piece of wire or rebar(6') and stick one end in the ground and one end in the neck of the head. take another wire or bar to go across that bar to support the bars on each end that will be attached to the skeleton hands, so you should have a cross with arm wires hanging from the sides. connect the hands to the material you used to cover this freaky creature, probably some black, light fabric. or to the arm wires themself and rest them on the top of the gravestone. stake the gravestone into the ground. make a hood to cover the head with the fabric. and waaalaaa! you have a 6' crypt keeper standing over a tombstone. now lets go over the costs and how much to sell for and how much to give to a charity(this will drive sales, and make you look good.)
$13.50 for the sheet of styrofoam(divided by 18 gravestones)= 75 cents a gravestone+ $4 a head+$5 for the hands $4-5 for fabric material + add $3 per piece for paints and wires.
roughly about $17 or $18 per piece, 18 pieces= $324(all materials+$30 to make the cutter+ $30 for hot knife. about $384 for everything. put that on a credit card with 0% interest on purchases up to 12 months
now we need to find a charity. find a local church or fundraiser that is looking for money or boy or girl scouts in your area is always good. If you sell these for $50 and for a good cause, you will sell all 18 fast, just put a free ad up in town or flyers. 18x$50=$900, now say you give$10 from each piece to a charity, this is more than enough for old people or church people to whip out their purses or wallets(I mean come on, remember how easily you could sell chocolates or magazines for school?) $10 per piece ends up being a $180 donation to a charity, probably will get you in the local paper if it gets reported, and you walk away with over $700, pay your credit card bill off and you made around $350 in this venture, plus you have a new hot knife for future styrofoam projects. If this catches on, you may have to do it again next year. Thanks everyone for reading.
