Baptism is An important question.
Why be baptized according to the apostles' doctrine? For centuries, this ancient question has bound itself to spiritual leaders. Did the
apostles deliberately violated the order of Jesus Christ when
He commanded them to go to all the world and make disciples,
baptizing them in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Have
they brought something without scriptural basis when instructing new
converts and commanded to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for the forgiveness of their sins? If the Apostles did not obey the command of Jesus, then who obeyed Him, and when? This
is the serious question everyone must ask to himself, and
this, not like Pontius Pilate who found himself once again facing a
serious decision about God
(the Word made flesh, John 1:14), and
asked for a bowl of water, thinking to wash his guilt. He could not
erase his guilt simply by washing his hands in water. You either! But,
to be freed from sin, we must obey the Word of God as it presents
itself. Looking carefully for a response.
Is it scriptural to baptize a convert in the name of Jesus Christ? In the Bible, there are more texts relating to baptism in Christ than doctrines. We will meet eight texts which speaks of baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ, and show why no other baptism is sufficient.
1 - Acts 2:38: the Jews at Pentecost.
2 ° - Acts 8.12-16: those of mixed race, the Samaritans.
3 ° - Acts 10.48: the pagan Cornelius' house. Peter commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord (the Lord's Name is Jesus Christ).
4 ° - Acts 9.14: Saul, in his delirium religious dragged to jail all those who invoked the name of the Lord. Acts 9.5: Jesus spoke of heaven and said to Saul that he was the Lord. Acts 22:16: Paul was baptized by invoking the name of the Lord. Romans 6.3: Paul says he was baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ using the pronoun "we", "All of us who were baptized into Jesus Christ into his death we were baptized. We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death ".
5 ° - Romans 5.3.5: the saints in Rome were baptized by the apostle Paul in the name of the Lord Jesus who died, was buried and resurrected. These twelve disciples of John the Baptist at Ephesus Paul found that had never been identified with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.
6 - 1 Corinthians 1.12,13 three questions were asked at the church at Corinth: a) Is Christ divided? b) Paul says he was crucified for you? C) Have you been baptized in the name of Paul? (Which clearly implies they were baptized in the name). It would be pointless to be baptized in the name of Paul because he is not dead, not buried and is not resurrected. Baptism identifies you with someone who died, was buried and came back to life. In the same letter, Paul mentions some of the sins that prevent entry into the Kingdom of God, and he sums up by saying that "it was about some of you, but now you are washed, sanctified (set aside), and justified. "
Notice how this is done by means of two things: first, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, secondly by the Spirit of our God (1 Cor. 6.11).
7 ° - Galatians 3.27: Church of the Galatians was baptized in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. For all of you who have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ (the revelation of the Word) (Rom. 13.14).
8 ° - Colossians 2.12: Last but not least, the Church of Colossae had been "buried with Christ in baptism." This phrase of Paul to the Colossians was addressed also used in the Epistle to the Romans, verses 3 and 4 of Chapter 6 where he said they had been baptized into Christ Jesus (one person), but in the Epistle to the Colossians, we learn a particular thing about baptism Ie. Being buried with Christ, in Him we are circumcised. That is why Paul told the Galatians that circumcision in the flesh is not useful, because now, baptism in Christ has replaced circumcision (Col. read. 2.11-13). So Paul spoke highly affirmed the church at Colosse that baptism in Christ who is the burial with Him (and not with "them") cuts off completely the old life of sin. Remember that under the old covenant, circumcision was also striking: the foreskin was cut with a sharp knife. Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ is an order, it is the circumcision of the new covenant.
Some might think that this has to do with the baptism of the Spirit, but it is far from being a spiritual baptism. Nowhere in Scripture says that receiving the baptism of the Spirit identifies you to Christ. The Spirit is not dead, not buried and is not risen, but Paul says to the Corinthians (1 Cor. 15.4) that is Christ, the third day rose from the dead. All references in Scripture that we gave you about baptism bet a burial in the waters of death: this is your death, your burial, and resurrection of your with him. It is by no means a spiritual baptism. Baptism can be administered by a person who had the revelation of Jesus Christ. This is the only Christian baptism, the only one who can unite with the fullness of Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.
Now, consider the Trinitarian formula. Trinitarians believe that the Father is a person, the Son is another person, and that the Holy Spirit is a third person (three persons in the Godhead). If you believe that, you can be identified only Son (the Son being Jesus Christ), because remember what baptism is and what it represents: death, burial, resurrection. When Father died He? When was he buried? When revived Does It? When the Holy Spirit did he die? When was he buried? When revived Does It? Oh, sincere heart that seeks divine truth, do not you understand that? Father and Holy Spirit can not be two separate persons of the Son. Baptism according to Scripture identifies you with only He who died, was buried and resurrected. This mysterious water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, that circumcision is a Christian, you would unite only to Jesus Christ and not the Father nor the Holy Spirit, if they were two people separated. There would be no opportunity to be baptized in water and you identify with the Father and the Holy Spirit, they were two distinct spiritual Sons, they certainly are not!
If the apostles had not had the revelation of Matthew 28:19 and that this order was not made in Acts 2:38, in that Jesus Christ was the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the apostles like ourselves, we'd found before twelve terrible mistakes:
1 ° - Christ lied when he said he opened the intelligence of His disciples so that they understand the Scriptures, beginning with the law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms (Luke 24.44,45).
2 ° - Paul would have wasted his time when he prayed that the Ephesians are enlightened (Eph. 1.18).
3 ° All the time that Christ spent trying to teach His disciples for three and a half years have been lost.
4 - His death, burial and resurrection would have been useless to the disciples who tried to continue his work after his death.
5 ° - All the instructions he gave them for forty days after His resurrection would have been unnecessary and meaningless
6 ° - The outpouring of the Spirit, they waited in Jerusalem would have been useless and it would have led into error.
7 ° - In the program of Christ to redeem the lost, he would not know how to choose men who understand his instructions, after he had taught himself for three and a half years.
8 ° - Peter would have lost 3,000 sincere Jews, and Jerusalem spread a false doctrine.
9 ° - Jesus was a madman for having handed over the keys of the kingdom to someone as stupid as Peter, which was mistaken in his first message, thinking he was using the keys correctly (Matt. 16.19) when he opened the door of grace to the Jews, and the house of Cornelius; the Gentiles.
10 ° - Heaven itself was confused, because an angel came to Cornelius and told him to send for Peter who would tell him things by which he would be saved and his household (Acts 11.14).
11 ° - God the Father would have also lost the reason for sending someone so incapable as Jesus Christ on earth with an important mission, since it could not pass it to twelve ignorant who could not even give any message to the people, after God had sent the Jews to all nations to hear (Acts 2.5).
12 ° - Peter was temporarily insane to believe that this message of repentance, baptism and receiving the Holy Spirit, as the reports that Acts 2.38, was for the Jews and the nations (in as many as the Lord our God would call them). How the Lord God Almighty should be grateful to Constantine, the Roman emperor, the Roman Catholic church and her harlot daughters, the Protestant churches, have both fought the apostles' doctrine and have canceled !
According to the New Encyclopedia of Collier (Vol. 10, p. 3), the word "trinity" is not found in the Scriptures, and it would have been used for the first time by Theophilus, bishop of Antioch, in the Second century.
Encyclopaedia Britannica (Vol. 3, p. 365-366): the "one in three people," the Trinitarian formula, was not uniformly used at the beginning, and until the third century, baptism in the Name of Christ was so widely charged that Pope Stephen, in opposition to St. Cyprian, declared invalid. But the Catholic missionaries, by omitting one or more persons of the Trinity in baptism, found themselves excommunicated by the Catholic church. Currently, the formula of Rome: "I baptize you in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit."
Baptism in Water
Information from the Washington D.C.office.
The following information is given as evidence that the history of the Church as Scripture states that baptism in water in Jesus' name was practiced for three hundred years after Christ and was changed by the Roman Catholic church.
1 ° - Dictionary of the Bible, Scribners, (vol. 1, p. 241) - The original formula was "in the Name of Jesus Christ or Lord Jesus." Baptism in the trinity was a later development.
2 ° - Canney Encyclopedia, page 53 - In the early church, poeple were baptized in the name of the Lord since Jesus until the development of the doctrine of the Trinity, thereafter, was baptized in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3 - New International Encyclopedia (vol. 22, p. 476) - Doctrine of the Trinity. The Catholic Church believes that "We worship one God in Trinity, but there is one person, the Father, another the Son, and another, the Holy Spirit. The glory is equal, the majesty co-eternal. " We do not find this doctrine fully developed in the Scriptures. Modern theology does not try to find it in the Old Testament. At the time of the Reformation, the Protestant Church adopted the doctrine of the Trinity without serious consideration.
4 - World Encyclopedia (vol. 16, p. 7270) - The doctrine of "three in one" is considered a mystery for which there is no adequate explanation. The first statement of faith in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit was made authoritative by the First Council of Nicaea in 325 churches, which also declared that the Son is of the same substance as the Father. If you reject the apostles' doctrine concerning baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ who will take you to the revelation of truth, knowing that Jesus Himself prayed for all who believe in Him through the words of the apostles (John 17.20 ), and if you continue to accept the Trinitarian baptism into three separate people, you will automatically be identified with the Roman Catholic Church, because it is its baptism that you are receiving.
