Posted on 2011-12-21 11:50:21, by Rachel De Barros in Automotive → Cars
They’re every parent’s nightmare, and every driver’s reality: teen drivers. Ideally, it’s best for parents to make a teen share the family car, giving parents the control over when, where and how the car is used. Since this is not always practical, some teenager drivers must have their own cars. Here is a list of ideal used cars for teenage drivers. Although they aren't particularly fast or sexy, they score high on safety tests. This list was compiled using crash tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Each has a high center of gravity, which could result in a rollover, despite technology on board. 2007 Ford 500 or 2005-2007 Mercury MontegoThe 2007 Ford 500 ... Read More

Classic Car Engine Comparison: V6 vs. V8
Posted on 2011-12-21 11:48:11, by Rachel De Barros in Automotive → Cars
What Is The Difference Between a V6 & V8 Engine? The shortest and simplest answer is: two pistons. The difference they make is debatable. A V-6 is a six-cylinder engine, and a V-8 is an eight-cylinder engine. A V-6 engine has 3 cylinders on each side, and both sides are angled away from the center of the engine, forming a "V" shape. V-8 engines are the same shape, but offer 4 cylinders on each side. Something to note is that V-6 and V-8 engines are installed differently. V-6 engines are attached so that the cylinders are perpendicular to the car’s fenders. IE If you “pop the hood” up and are facing the car’s engine, the cylinders are on the right and left of it. In contrast, V-8 engines are much larger, ... Read More
